Your journey begins in the vibrant harbor town of Fethiye, a lively port framed by mountains and turquoise waters. Upon boarding the gulet, you’ll meet the crew and fellow travelers who will be your companions for the week ahead. After a safety briefing and orientation, take time to explore the vessel comfortable cabins with private bathrooms, a shaded dining area, and spacious sun decks perfect for lounging. As the afternoon unfolds, enjoy a refreshing swim in one of the nearby coves, easing into the rhythm of life at sea. Dinner is served onboard, where local flavors introduce you to the culinary side of the Turkish coast. Fall asleep under the stars with the gentle sway of the boat, ready for the adventure ahead.

This morning the gulet sails towards the island dotted bays of Göcek, an area known for its crystalline waters and secluded anchorages. You’ll have multiple opportunities to swim, snorkel, or simply relax on deck as the scenery glides by. The highlight of the day is a stop at Cleopatra’s Baths, a partially submerged ancient ruin said to have been built for the legendary queen herself. Here, the ruins rest beneath clear waters, making it a unique place for both swimming and exploration. Between water activities, savor a freshly prepared lunch onboard and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the pine covered hills surrounding the bay. As evening sets in, the gulet anchors in a sheltered cove, providing a peaceful backdrop for dinner and stargazing.

Today brings a change of scenery as you arrive at Ekincik, a natural bay opening into the fascinating Dalyan Delta. From here, a riverboat takes you deep into winding channels lined with reeds, where ancient Lycian rock tombs loom high above the riverbanks. You’ll also have the chance to indulge in Dalyan’s famous mud baths, known for their rejuvenating properties. After exploring the charming riverside town, return to the gulet for relaxation in Ekincik Bay. The afternoon is yours to swim, kayak, or simply recline with a book as the sun warms the deck. Dinner is once again served onboard, with the surrounding cliffs and calm waters offering a serene atmosphere to end the day.

The gulet sets course for Marmaris, one of Turkey’s most renowned coastal cities. As the boat approaches, the lively marina, bustling bazaar, and palm-lined promenade come into view. You’ll have the option to step ashore and wander through the town’s maze of streets, visiting markets filled with spices, textiles, and handicrafts. For those who prefer to stay close to the water, Marmaris also boasts sandy beaches and a vibrant harbor atmosphere. In the evening, enjoy the contrast of urban life before returning to the calm of the gulet. The combination of coastal charm and city energy makes this stop a memorable midpoint in your voyage.

The day unfolds at Kumlubük, a sweeping bay framed by rugged mountains. Here, you can dive straight into the pristine sea or relax on deck while the gulet gently drifts. Just above the shoreline lies the ruins of ancient Amos, an archaeological site with remnants of a theater, fortifications, and temples. A short hike brings you panoramic views over the bay, blending history with breathtaking scenery. Back at sea level, snorkelers can explore the underwater world, while others may enjoy quiet sunbathing or a leisurely paddle. Evening descends with a spectacular sunset across the horizon, followed by another dinner onboard in the tranquil embrace of the bay.

After a leisurely morning sail, the gulet arrives at the charming town of Datça. Known for its laid-back atmosphere, narrow streets, and local markets, Datça is a wonderful place to connect with Turkish coastal life. You may wander through boutiques selling olive oil products, spices, and traditional crafts, or relax in a seaside café sipping Turkish tea. Datça’s peninsula is surrounded by crystal clear waters, so swimming and snorkeling are always an option. The pace here is slower, offering time to soak in the local culture and unwind. Return to the gulet for an evening of good food and companionship, with the stars overhead and the quiet sea all around.

This morning takes you to Knidos, one of the most significant ancient cities along the Turkish coast. Famous for its amphitheater, temples, and panoramic views of two natural harbors, Knidos feels like an open-air museum by the sea. Strolling through the ruins, you’ll get a sense of the city’s importance in antiquity. Afterward, enjoy a final swim in the surrounding waters before setting sail once more. The journey continues towards Bodrum, with plenty of time for sunbathing, reading, or sharing stories with fellow travelers. Dinner is served onboard as the gulet anchors near Bodrum, offering a last night to savor the maritime magic of the Aegean.

Your sailing adventure concludes in Bodrum, a lively town known for its whitewashed houses, medieval castle, and vibrant nightlife. After breakfast onboard, it’s time to say farewell to the crew and fellow travelers. Disembarkation takes place in the harbor, leaving you free to continue your travels in Bodrum or onward to other parts of Turkey. Though the journey ends here, the memories of secluded bays, ancient ruins, and the camaraderie of gulet life remain vivid long after you step ashore.

Before you book you should know

Is this trip right for you?

This trip is aboard a traditional Turkish gullet (a traditional wooden Turkish motor sailing boat). All cabins will have ensuite bathrooms and you’ll stay in a mixture of twin share and double bed cabins, all on the same deck. It’s recommended that you pack light, as cabins are cosy.

All cabins will experience a light engine noise when the ship is moving (and occasionally when you drop anchor). It’s probably worth packing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

A good swimming ability is essential on this trip to enjoy all activities.

Many meals are included onboard the boat. Where meals are not included, you’ll have time on land in beachside towns and resort towns for optional meals.

Some activities and excursions will involve a bit of walking. You’ll be visiting ancient sites and historical places, and at times you may be walking on uneven ground in hot conditions. If you have any concerns, please speak to your local leader.

If you’re travelling with your own group of friends or family and would like to book a private departure on this sailing trip, our Tailor-Made team will be happy to help: https://www.ontheroad.travel/tailor-made-tours.php
